Ok, i just got my new Dell flat screen monitor and guess what...it won't work. It works fine on the system load screen, works on DOS, works when loading windows but then gets to the login screen and it all goes black. The monitor is still on but theres nothing on the screen. Occasionally it will flicker a bit at the bottem but thats it. I have tested it on another PC and it workd fine. That PC has a TNT2 GFX card and is running on Windows 98SE.

The system i have is running Windows XP Pro with a P4 2Ghz, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro and 512mb ddr ram. I have tried setting the lowest resolutions, changing the Hz from 60-75. If i run in safe mode the monitor works, so i believe it is a problem with my graphics card. With an ATI card will i need to plug the monitor into the DVI-I slot?

It's definitely a drivers/hardware issue, the screen is blanking when the graphics drivers are being loaded. I'd say the first thing to try would be the latest catalyst drivers for your card.

The Dvi input should be the better one, should give a better quality picture.
