Its been a long time since i asked a question, but my son`s PC one day decided to remove most of the programs i managed to get some of them back but there appears that there are some registry errors.

I checked for virus`s and didn`t find any, is there a way of repairing the registry instead of a fresh install. I don`t like the idea of putting the windows cd to repair the faults, as in the past i find that it doesn`t work.

I don`t have the access to, start >programs>accessories> system tools>system restore.

The pc lost all access, or i would of done a system restore to a known working date. I might have to go down the road of a fresh install.

You could try running system restore from the command prompt:

Start system restore from the command prompt

It didn`t worked, it appeared to allow me to restore to a known working date but when the PC rebooted it was on the same screen / icons that was there before.

Its screaming format to me now. sniper.gif sniper.gif sniper.gif

It does sound like the windows installation is shot and a reinstall is the way to go.
