Can't get the harddrive to turn on, have checked plugs and fuses but nothing1 The light on the screen is on and when plug was pulled out and relpaced "power saving mode" was displayed. The internet connection is working hence I am able to send this via my laptop.My daughter used the computer without problem last evening,shut it down successfully but when tried to start it up again -nothing- no power at all showingb on harddrive completely dead. Any ideas, please help!!!

No fan noise in fact nothing at all happens

Could well be the power supply unit or motherboard. If it was just the hard drive you would get something on the screen and power to the computer.
Sometimes re-seating the memory modules and/or graphics card can sometimes bring the pc back to life, but thats a long shot.
Ideally you could do with plugging in a spare power supply unit, just to see if that is the problem.
If you don't feel capable of messing with the internals of the pc, you'll probably have to take it to a computer techie I'm afraid.
