Hi,
I'm new to the forum and well new to Advent computers too. I've more or less looked everywhere but found little support at all for Advent problems, including an Advent Support number which turns out to be "The Tech Guys" from Comet/Currys (I forget which).
But anyway, my dad has an Advent 7096 and all of a sudden it decided to stop turning on, frustrated he tried several things, including boot disks, recovery disks but managed to turn it on by chance just by clicking the power button and has done this for about half a year. In the end he ended up just leaving his laptop on all the time to save the hassle. Recently he bought a new laptop and gave me his Advent to fix, I started by booting into the Recovery partition and Recover the laptop (deleting everything on it and reinstalling windows), I was planning to reflash the bios once Windows had been installed to see if it solves the problems but now the pc won't turn on at all. We've tried everything but it just won't turn on like it used to. Sometimes after clicking power the power light will come on for a minute or so and then the computer will turn on. Clicking the power button makes the screen flicker also. But also, if the laptop is left on running on batteries, after about 20 minutes it begins to beep, and gradually beeps faster until a power source is connected.
Any help would be appreciated so much,
Thanks,
George.

Did you try to remove the battery and run it only on power lead?
