Don't know if anyone can help, but I have an Advent 6552 laptop, and each time I press Caps Lock, a symbol appears on screen for about a second telling me that caps lock is either on or off.
I can't continue typing until the symbol goes of. It is driving me nuts.
How can I stop it appearing?

I'm afraid that I don't know the answer but there obviously is a way to switch it off because there was another recent post from someone with an Advent who wanted to know how to turn the on screen messages back on!

Of course you could arrange to swap laptops, I suppose.................. whistle.gif

But seriously, there obviously must be a setting. If I was hunting for it, I'd probably start in the keyboard settings in Control Panel. Or look in the All Programs list and see if there is some Advent keyboard utility listed.

Its all controlled by a piece of software called OSD (on screen display). The program file is called osd.exe and it loads as part of windows startup.

To be honest I don't know much about it, it may be worth having a hunt round the start menu just to see if it has a settings utility that lets you turn off the caps lock message. If that doesn't work then you should be able to uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs.

Have to admit I hate this sort of software, my new logitech keyboard came with a similar program and it got uninstalled after about 20 seconds...
