I have an Advent 7090 laptop. When I switch it on the screen develops lines...mainly vertical but sometimes changes to horizontal...and sometimes behind the lines one can see the picture or writing but then it is moving all the time.If I press backward on the top righthand corner fo the screen and pull forward on the bottom left hand corner of the screen then the screen returns to normal...and one could use the computer as normal...if one had another 2 hands!!!!Could someone tell me what the problem could be?Thanks Jess

To be absolutely sure, one would need to do some tests on a workbench. But from your description, I would say that you almost certainly need the screen replaced.

If I'm right, and assuming that you have no warranty cover, you can expect a specialist laptop repair shop to charge in the region of £100 to £130. Whether it is worth spending that, rather depends on how old it is, bearing in mind that an entry level laptop is now about £350.
