Hi Folks,

Bought myself a Packard Bell Easynote BU45-O-002, with a missing key (thinking it would be easy to find - boy o boy was I wrong).

It is the "o" that is missing. Have tried looking everywhere but no luck.

So if I cant fing the key, I thought I would replace the keyboard, again I can't find that either. All I have managed to find out is the part number, which I think is "PB72E00001".

Can anyone help me with the key or keyboard, supply a number to contact and a price.

Thanks

B

Thanks for that. I tried these guys a while back for an advent missing key and they wanted me to send laptop (i am in manchester) and i think for £130 they fit keyboard. Its too dear at that price.

I suppose my search will go on.

Give them a call, and explain you just want one key and you will fit it yourself.

Just called them and told them that i want the key and will do a DIY job. They refused to send out the key. They said I need to courier it to them as they wont send any parts out.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Thanks for the help.

The trouble is that the business model of most of these laptop repair shops that have sprung up involves them buying up large quantities of old broken laptops to cannibilise (hence the healthy market on ebay in broken laptops). That makes their overheads quite high and hence laptop repairs expensive since they have to recover those costs. It wouldn't be worth their while selling on parts (and indeed a single key off a keyboard would probably mean that they couln't shift the rest of it).

The underlying problem is that laptop parts aren't like PC parts i.e. they aren't generic. Hence there is no straightforward trade suppliers of them.

Hi - did you ever get sorted with a new key? I have the same laptop and my 'L' key is broken. I got as far as ordering one from

www.laptopkeys.co.uk email: laptopkey@mjnsoftware.co.uk

but I think they've taken my five quid and done a runner. No phone numbers on their (very swish) website and a terse reply to my email to say someone will get in touch....but nothing so far.

I'll let you know if I get any joy
