Hi,

I have an Advent desktop 3319. I had it sent away as it was infected with a virus and the system was recovered back to its original status using the recovery cd. I no have no sound and when i try to install the drivers again from a pcworld download it say that the hardware cannot be found (i.e. the realtek ac97).

Is there a way that the sound could be turned off somehow? I have heard somethign about the BIOS but have no idea how to get into that and turn the sound back on.

If this is not the problem then what could it be?

I hope some of you can help!

Thanks in advance.

Reboot the PC & as it starts up keep hitting DEL & you should get into the BIOS screens. If at first you don't succeed keep trying as timing is everything.

From the BIOS menu select 'Integrated Peripherals'

From the Next menu select 'SIS OnChip PCI Device'

On the following page you will see SISAC97 Audio. Check this is set to Enabled. If not Enable it & exit saving the settings.
