Real time clock doesnt seem to work correctly, is there a seperate battery for this and if so where is it
located ?

I purchased a xircom modem for this. After installation, it works until power is turned off and then
the modem must be uninstalled and installed again before it works again. Could this be related to
the first problem ?

Yes the battery is located under the keyboard, on many laptops, however check your service manual for exact information.

Most possibly, the best way to tell is to change the CMOS battery and see

Have a look through THIS service manual, (note, it may take a little time to show up as it is a rather large PDF)

Marc, thanks for the info, I did download the service manual and it recommended I charge the battery
for at least 24 hours and that seemed to fix the clock problem. I think the modem problems may be a
software problem as that part still seems to be the same
