Hi Again,
Think I'm on the correct Message Board this time. New computer barely a week old (Sony Vaio NS30) running Vista Home premium. The Norton product seems to have developed a fault. The icon in the taskbar has a white cross on red over the yellow icon there used to be there. When I run the program it tells me that its my Virus definitions that are out of date - urges me to click on FIX or FIX ALL - which I have done. The LiveUpdate then kicks into action, runs for a short time and tells me that everything on my system is up to date - yet still the little 'x' covers the Norton icon in the task bar and still the program tells me to FIX.
I've clicked on 'support' all to no avail - it just goes on and on and on and then a promp appears telling me that I've been viewing the same page for too long and that they could not help me and for to ring a phone number.
I'd prefer to 'fix' it myself, but feel that I'm just going round in circles keep clicking on FIX because it does't seem to 'fix' anything. Does anyone know whats going on and better still, how to correct it ?

Thanks

Jaydee

When Norton goes pear shaped, the best thing to do normally is to totally uninstall it (remove everything Norton or Symanted in the Add/Remove program list) and then reinstall. Of course that assumes that you have the disk or installation file to reinstall it.

Hello again. Quite the little bane of your life, at the moment, aren't I Grasshopper ? Sorry........

I did consider uninstalled and re-installing, but just needed someone (you) to give me a nudge in the right direction. I'll do it shortly. I'm just worried that once I re-install it that I'll go back to having all the problems with getting online like I did a few days ago, and that panics me.

But, I will do it. I will.

Thanks for your time and advice.

Take care......

Jaydee
